Obtaining a Burn Permit from the Fire Department
Burn permits can be issued over the phone in accordance with current requirements. These requirements are as follows:
Permits will not be issued under some conditions, which include, but are not limited to, Air Quality Index,windy conditions, overcast conditions where inversion of the atmosphere prohibits smoke from clearing the area, open burning bans issued by the State of Tennessee Fire Marshall's office, and rain.

In the event you cannot reach personnel at your closest station, you may call any of the others.
Any requests from residents outside the scope of these requirements should be directed to Fire Department headquarters by calling 425-3520.
Any request from contractors to burn brush cleared from the land for construction purposes, must be made to Fire Department headquarters and have an on-site inspection and a written permit. Call 425-3520 to schedule an on-site inspection.
